Privacy Policy
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, make a purchase, or contact us for support. This may include:
- Name and contact information
- Account credentials
- Payment information
- Dietary preferences and health information
- Communication preferences
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Process transactions and send related information
- Send you technical notices, updates, and support messages
- Respond to your comments, questions, and provide customer service
- Personalize and improve your experience
- Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties without your consent, except as described in this policy. We may share your information with trusted partners who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or serving our users, as long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.
4. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Analytics and Tracking
We use OpenPanel, a self-hosted analytics tool, to understand how our website and mobile app are used. All analytics data is processed on our own servers within the EU — no data is shared with third-party analytics providers.
All analytics data is collected anonymously. We do not create user profiles, and no personally identifiable information (such as name, email address, or user ID) is linked to analytics events. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in improving our services (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
On our website, the following information may be collected automatically:
- Pages visited and navigation paths
- Outgoing link clicks
- Browser type and device information
- Referring website
- Country of origin (based on IP address, which is not stored)
In our mobile app, we collect anonymous usage events such as:
- Screen views and navigation paths
- Feature usage (e.g. recipe creation, meal planning, shopping list actions)
- Subscription-related events (e.g. purchase started, plan selected)
- General interaction patterns (e.g. onboarding progress, authentication method used)
These events contain only categorical data (e.g. which type of action was performed) and never include content you created, personal identifiers, or information that could be used to identify you.
On the website, we may also use cookies to store certain preferences. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our service.
6. Authentication
We use Clerk (Clerk, Inc., 660 King Street, Unit 345, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) as our authentication and user management provider. Clerk handles account creation, sign-in, session management and account-related email communication such as email verification, password resets, multi-factor authentication codes and security notifications.
When you create an account or sign in, Clerk processes data such as your email address, name, profile picture (if provided), authentication credentials, session tokens, IP address and device information. If you sign in via a third-party provider (e.g. Apple, Google), Clerk receives the basic profile data that provider shares with us.
Clerk acts as a processor on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). The legal basis for this processing is the performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in securing our services (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Clerk may transfer data to the United States; such transfers are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
For more details, please refer to Clerk's privacy policy at clerk.com/legal/privacy.
7. Email Communication and Newsletter
We use Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany) as our email service provider to send our newsletter, product updates and — if you have opted in — marketing communications. Account-related emails such as email verification and password resets are handled by our authentication provider Clerk (see section 6).
When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and, optionally, additional information you provide. Your data is processed on servers operated by Brevo within the European Union. Brevo acts as a processor on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement (Art. 28 GDPR).
Newsletter subscriptions use a double opt-in procedure: after signing up, you will receive a confirmation email and must click the included link to activate your subscription. The legal basis for newsletter processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by clicking the unsubscribe link in every newsletter or by contacting us at contact@plannymeals.com.
Brevo may collect statistical information about our email campaigns, such as whether an email was opened or links were clicked, to help us measure the effectiveness of our communications. For more details, please refer to Brevo's privacy policy at brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- The right to access your personal information
- The right to rectify inaccurate information
- The right to erase your personal information
- The right to restrict processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to object to processing
9. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time directly from the app. To do so, follow these steps:
- Open the PlannyMeals app and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap on Account & Security.

This action is irreversible. Once confirmed, your account and all personal data — including recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and preferences — will be permanently deleted. If you have an active subscription, please cancel it through your app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store) before deleting your account to avoid further charges.
10. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
