- 200 gEgg
- 120 gSugar
- 1.5 gSalt
- 5 gVanilla extract
- 946 mlMilk
- 10 gButter

Preparation
- Beat the eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla extract together until uniform.
- Scald the milk (heat to nearly boiling).
- Slowly add the hot milk to the egg mixture while stirring constantly to temper the eggs.
- Strain the mixture into a greased baking dish or several small greased ovenproof molds.
- Place the dish or molds into a larger pan filled with hot water halfway up the sides (water bath).
- Bake in a preheated oven at 150–160 °C (300–325 °F) for 30–40 minutes, until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove carefully from the water bath and let cool slightly. Serve warm or chilled.
