Ingredients

  • 2 pcsEgg
  • 200 gWhite sugar
  • 113 gButter
  • 30 gCocoa powder
  • 90 gFlour
  • 3 gSalt
  • 2 gBaking powder
  • 5 mlVanilla extract
  • 60 gWalnut

    Prepare

    • Preheat the oven to 175 °C (350 °F).
    • Grease a 23 x 23 cm (9 x 9 inch) square baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

    Make the batter

    • Whisk the eggs in a medium bowl until lighter in color.
    • Add the sugar, melted butter and cocoa powder and mix well.
    • Add flour, salt, baking powder and vanilla and fold with a spatula until just combined.
    • Fold in chopped walnuts if using.

    Bake

    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
    • Bake for about 20 minutes. Do a skewer test — the center should be slightly moist but not raw.
    • Remove from the oven, let cool briefly in the pan, then cut into squares and serve.
