Prepare the beans
- Pick over the beans to remove any dirt or stones.
- Soak the beans in lukewarm water for 30–40 minutes, then drain.

Hull and wash
- Cover the soaked beans with water and rub them together to loosen the skins, which will float.
- Scoop off the floating skins and drain the beans, then rinse under running water.

Blend
- Put the beans, chopped onion and scotch bonnet peppers in a blender or food processor.
- Add a little water and blend to a smooth, thick but pourable batter.

Season
- Transfer the batter to a bowl.
- Add salt and a seasoning cube to taste and mix well.

Fry
- Heat enough oil in a deep pan for frying.
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden and crisp, 2–3 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels.

- Serve hot with corn pap, bread or a spicy sauce.
