  • 400 gBratwurst
  • 60 gButter
  • 120 gOnion
  • 10 gFlour
  • 300 mlBroth
  • 800 gPotato
  • 50 gWhite bread
  • 4 gSalt
  • 1 gPepper
  • 5 gParsley

    Prepare

    • Cook the potatoes in their skins, let cool and slice into approx. 1 cm rounds.
    • Finely chop the onion. Cut the bratwurst into finger-length pieces.
    • Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Grease a baking dish with a little butter.

    Fry sausages and make sauce

    • Melt 30 g butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the onion until translucent.
    • Add bratwurst pieces and brown on all sides.
    • Sprinkle flour, stir briefly, then gradually add hot beef broth, bring to a boil and season with salt and pepper. Simmer until sauce slightly thickens.

    Layer and bake

    • Place a layer of potato slices into the greased dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
    • Distribute the fried bratwurst over them and top with another potato layer.
    • Sprinkle remaining breadcrumbs on top and drizzle with the rest of the melted butter.
    • Bake for about 40–45 minutes until golden and crisp on top.

    Serve

    • Let the dish rest briefly, then serve whole or in portions.
    • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
