Ingredients

  • 450 gPasta
  • 360 mlTomato sauce
  • 450 gMozzarella
  • 225 gRicotta
  • 110 gParmesan
  • 1 pcsEgg
  • 3 tbspBasil
  • 2 tbspOregano
  • 3 tbspParsley
  • 60 gBreadcrumbs
  • 1 pinchChili flakes
  • 5 gSalt
  • 0.5 tspPepper
  • 15 mlOlive oil

Instructions

    Preparation

    • Preheat oven to 225 °C. Coat a large baking dish with 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil.

    Mix ricotta filling

    • Stir ricotta, the beaten egg, 3 tbsp basil, 2 tbsp oregano and 3 tbsp parsley and about half of the mozzarella and Parmesan in a large bowl until well combined.
    • Season with salt and pepper.

    Cook pasta

    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Cook ziti until al dente, then drain well.
  4. 4

    Combine and assemble

    • Toss the hot pasta with marinara sauce and optional red pepper flakes until coated.
    • Stir in the ricotta mixture until it begins to melt, then transfer to the greased baking dish.

    Top and bake

    • Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top and then the breadcrumbs.
    • Bake at 225 °C for about 20 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbling.
