- 160 mlRed wine

Prepare and season
- Mix pepper, salt and minced garlic in a small bowl.
- Rub both sides of each steak (about 200 g each) with the mixture. Let rest briefly.

Cook steaks
- Lightly grease a broiler pan or oven grill rack with cooking spray or oil.
- Place steaks on the rack and broil about 5 minutes per side (for 2.5 cm thickness) or until desired doneness. Keep warm and let rest.

Caramelize onions & make sauce
- Heat a medium non-stick skillet lightly coated with cooking spray or oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the thinly sliced onion rings, cover and cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove onions and keep warm.
- Add the red wine to the skillet, deglaze by scraping up browned bits and reduce until about 80 ml remains (≈1 minute).
- Stir in the steak sauce and heat briefly until slightly thickened.
- Spoon the sauce over the steaks and top with the warm onions. Serve with fries if desired.
