Ingredients

  • 5 gPepper
  • 3 gSalt
  • 6 gGarlic
  • 800 gBeef tenderloin
  • 10 mlOil
  • 160 gOnion
  • 160 mlRed wine
  • 30 gSteak sauce

    Prepare and season

    • Mix pepper, salt and minced garlic in a small bowl.
    • Rub both sides of each steak (about 200 g each) with the mixture. Let rest briefly.

    Cook steaks

    • Lightly grease a broiler pan or oven grill rack with cooking spray or oil.
    • Place steaks on the rack and broil about 5 minutes per side (for 2.5 cm thickness) or until desired doneness. Keep warm and let rest.

    Caramelize onions & make sauce

    • Heat a medium non-stick skillet lightly coated with cooking spray or oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the thinly sliced onion rings, cover and cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove onions and keep warm.
    • Add the red wine to the skillet, deglaze by scraping up browned bits and reduce until about 80 ml remains (≈1 minute).
    • Stir in the steak sauce and heat briefly until slightly thickened.
    • Spoon the sauce over the steaks and top with the warm onions. Serve with fries if desired.
