Prepare
- Combine wheat bran and milk in a mixing bowl and let rest for 5 minutes.

Mix dry ingredients
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, baking soda and cloves in another bowl.

Finish batter
- Stir brown sugar, vegetable oil and egg into the bran mixture.
- Stir in the dry ingredients, then fold in the chopped peeled apples and dried cranberries until just combined.

- Spoon batter into greased muffin cups or paper liners, filling each about 3/4 full.
- Bake at 200 °C for 15–20 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.
- Let cool briefly in the pan, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
