  • 500 gPhyllo dough
  • 200 gKashkaval cheese
  • 500 gFeta
  • 7 pcsEgg
  • 100 gButter
  • 120 mlSoda water
  • 240 gYogurt

Instructions

    Prepare filling

    • Mix 6 of the eggs, the grated butter, both cheeses and the yogurt in a large bowl until smooth.

    Layering

    • Butter a baking dish lightly.
    • Lay a sheet of phyllo, spread some filling, and continue alternating layers until both phyllo and filling are used.
    • Finish with a sheet of phyllo and cut into serving pieces.

    Pour and bake

    • Beat the last egg with the soda water and stir well.
    • Pour the egg mixture over the banitsa, ensuring no dry spots remain.
    • Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for 40 minutes or until golden.
