Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F).
- Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line with paper cases.

Sift dry ingredients
- Sift the flour, sugar, poppy seeds, lemon zest, lemon extract, baking powder and salt into a medium bowl and mix.

Mix wet ingredients
- In a separate bowl whisk together the milk, oil, lemon yogurt and egg until combined.

Combine and bake
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture in three additions, taking care not to overmix.
- Divide batter between the 12 muffin cups.
- Bake about 16 minutes until golden and a skewer comes out clean. Let rest 10 minutes in the tin, then cool on a rack.

Glaze and finish
- Stir powdered sugar with lemon juice until smooth.
- Drizzle the warm or cooled muffins with the glaze.
