Prepare the mixture
- Crack the eggs into a shallow bowl and beat lightly.
- Add orange juice, half-and-half, sugar, vanilla extract and grated orange peel and whisk to combine.

Soak the bread
- Dip both sides of the thick cinnamon bread slices into the egg-orange mixture.
- Let the slices soak for about 5 minutes so the mixture penetrates.

Arrange and chill
- Grease a baking pan (about 38 × 25 × 2.5 cm) with a little butter or baking spray.
- Place the soaked bread slices in the pan, cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4–6 hours).

Bake
- Preheat oven to 165 °C (325 °F).
- Uncover the pan, drizzle the melted butter evenly over the bread slices.
- Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until browned and set. Let cool slightly before serving.
