Preparation
- Dice the onion, chop the tomatoes, shred the lettuce and grate the cheese.
- Mince the garlic.
- Prepare the tortillas (8 pieces).

Make the filling
- Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat and sauté the diced onion until translucent (about 5–7 minutes).
- Add garlic, chili powder, paprika, salt and red pepper flakes; stir and cook 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add plant-based crumbles and 240 ml water. Cook on low–medium for 10–15 minutes until most of the water evaporates and the mixture thickens.

Beans and tortillas
- Warm the refried beans slowly in a small pot, stirring occasionally.
- Heat another frying pan over medium heat. Lightly brown each tortilla on both sides (about 20–30 seconds per side).

Serve
- Place the vegetarian taco filling and warmed refried beans in bowls on the table.
- Let guests assemble their own tacos with beans, filling and chosen toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese).
- Serve with lime wedges if desired.
