- 2 pcsBouillon cube
- 70 gOnion
- 70 gCarrot
- 40 gCelery
- 1500 mlWater

Preparation
- Optional: Soak the yellow split peas in cold water up to 6 hours to shorten cooking time. Drain and rinse.
- Peel and chop the onion, peel and dice the carrot, slice the celery stalk.

Cooking
- Put all ingredients (split peas, onion, carrot, celery, bouillon cubes and water) into a large pot.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for 1–2 hours until the peas are tender. Stir occasionally and add water if needed.

Season & Serve
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper (bouillon cubes often provide most of the salt).
- Serve hot. Optionally finish with a drizzle of olive oil, freshly ground pepper or chopped parsley.
