Ingredients

  • 1000 gLamb
  • 450 gOnion
  • 4 gGarlic
  • 18 gGaram masala
  • 15 gCoriander
  • 15 gChili sauce
  • 480 gPita
  • 480 gTomato
  • 500 gRed cabbage
  • 150 gYogurt
  • 5 gSalt
  • 1 gPepper

    Prepare the kofta mix

    • Put the lamb mince into a large bowl.
    • Add grated/finely chopped onions, chopped garlic, garam masala, chopped coriander, chilli sauce, salt and pepper.
    • Use your hands to mix everything thoroughly until evenly combined.
    • Shape the mixture into 16 small, flat patties. The patties can be frozen for up to 1 month or kept chilled for up to a day.

    Grill and assemble

    • Preheat grill or grill pan to very high heat.
    • Place patties in a single layer on a baking tray (cook in batches if needed).
    • Grill 5–6 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
    • Warm the pita breads, spread with yogurt, add patties and top with sliced tomatoes, red onion rings, shredded red cabbage and fresh coriander. Let everyone build their own sandwich.
