- 240 mlMilk

Preparation
- Peel onions and cut into about 1 cm thick slices, then separate into rings.
- Whisk milk, eggs and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Soak the onion rings in the milk-egg mixture for 30 minutes.

Breading and frying
- Place pancake mix in a shallow bowl.
- Remove onion rings from the milk mixture and coat in the pancake mix.
- Heat oil to about 190 °C in a pot or deep fryer.
- Deep-fry the rings in batches until golden brown (about 2–4 minutes per batch).
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Optional: Onion loaf (bake)
- Pack fried onion rings loosely, without pressing, into a loaf pan (approx. 20 x 10 cm).
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for 10–15 minutes.
- Turn onto a serving plate and garnish with parsley.

- Serve onion rings hot as a snack or with dips.
- If baked as a loaf, slice and serve garnished with parsley.
